Our unit of study for May is called "My Body". We will be learning all about body parts and why they are so important. If you child has any books, puzzles, games or activities that go along with this unit please feel free to label them and send them into school. We would love to borrow them.

Friday is our last Park Day for the school year as the weather is starting to really warm up. Please put sunscreen on your child and send them to school with a hat and labeled frozen water bottle. Athletic shoes are recommended as we had some friends slip on the sandy pavement last time! Thanks for your help with this.

Bug Hunt # 2

We went out today to photograph some of the interesting insects we found on our first bug hunt but with little success. It was sooo windy. We decided to keep our butterflies until Friday. Hopefully by then the winds will go away. The kids made the cutest little insect hats and they were very proud of the fact that they can cut the insects out independently! Some of them even helped me staple them onto the hats. Thanks againg to Kamil's mom Lillian for donating our new Bug House!

Today was pretty exciting. Our butterflies emerged from their snuggly cocoons to reveal three very pretty Painted Ladies as they are called. The kids were so happy to finally see them as I think they were starting to think they were dead! They do have red liquid that they produce...it looks a bit like blood so I had to reassure the kids that this is a normal thing for butterflies and not to worry! On Wednesday we will go on our final bug hunt inorder to photograph all the cool insects we saw last week. We must have found atleast 50 ant hills with different ant species living next to eachother. We found a huge yellow bee of some sort that was the size of a rather large hornet but yellow in color. Tons of butterflies were flying around and we also saw a few spiderwebs with dead insects in them. The best part for the kids was probably finding some camoflauged grass hoppers! Very Cool indeed. We found some fast lizards and also spotted a pretty place near the park where we will release our 3 butterfly babies! Put some sunscreen on your little ones as it is sure to be hot outside that day!

Nehal and Aansh are back safely from India and they started back at preschool today. The kids were so cute greeting eachother and hugging! Aansh is now 99% potty trained so 3 down 1 to go. Aansh kept speaking some foreign language to me during work time and as I had a puzzled look on my face the other kids would laugh hysterically. It was a fun day but we missed Dalton...he was home sick. Hopefully he will be well enough to come back to school tomorrow!

Tuesday is Earth Day....do something special for the environment with your little ones! Today we read a very cool story called Ms Spider's Tea Party. Ask your child to tell you how all the insects eventually came over to drink tea and eat cake....a very cute story...one definately worth reading!

Park Day!!!

Park Day was a blast as we were blessed with perfect weather. The park we went to was completely enclosed and far away from the busy streets so the children were safe to run around and enjoy being just kids! They loved racing around the park on the sidewalk but poor Kamil kept slipping and getting scraped up so eventually they just ran around in the green belt! Ms. Stacie packed the kids a delicious snack of crackers, cheese, grapes and refreshing apple juice. After all that running around the kids were grateful for the juice. All in all it was a beautiful ending to a very nice week!

Flower arranging

Today was our first day for arranging flowers. The children were so excited to try it. They peeled the bottom leaves off and poured water into the tiny bud vases. The arrangements were beautiful to look at and even lovelier to smell. Thank you Leah for the beautiful flowers!

Ms. Stacie the children and I have decided that you may no longer go on vacation....we missed you soooo much. We hope you had fun in Las Vegas but we can't wait to see you, Dalton and Jordyn on Monday! We missed that little spitfire!

Here is Katelyn drawing a termite after seeing a picture of one in our insect book! She thought it was very strange that they eat wood
Leah has almost mastered her teen numbers! 11 and 12 are always tricky for kids.
