Work time!

Here are some pictures of the kids at work! Grant loves doing this advanced pouring work! Here is Ella doing some pasting work! She has a wonderful attention span for her age. You may see your child bringing home the same thing in their folder for awhile but don't be concerned. 2, 3 and even early 4 year olds have a great need for repetition. They may even want to eat the same foods or watch the same tv shows over and over again. This is a very normal and healthy part of childhood that clears up as your child grows.

Here is the game we played and a picture of the friendship dolls we have made so far! They will come home on Friday in your child's folder!

Cylinder Blocks

We have some new and exciting materials in our classroom this week. We added the cylinder blocks which teach dimension. The kids have really enjoyed them!

Mateo finally mastered the Long Rods! This material teaches the concept of length( shortest to longest). Here he is with Katelyn admiring his newly finished work!
We will be doing collages in class this week and we could use donations of magazines! If you have any laying around the house we will put them to good use! Thanks for your support!
Last week we welcomed a new student to our classroom. His name is Keyen and he is 3 years old. We have been working on our All About Me Unit and most of the children have finished their self portraits. They turned out very cute and colorful and we will send them home on Friday! Last Thursday we only had 4 kids so we played the Very Hungry Caterpillar game! It was a big hit with the kids and they are still talking about it. This week should go pretty smoothly. We are looking forward to September and a new unit to study!

Busy Worker Bees !

We had a busy day today! The kids enjoyed singing time as we sang a color song. They had to listen to each individual color and stand up if they had it on their clothes. We read Miss Spider's Tea Party and talked a bit more about the main character " Chester" from Monday's story. The kid's learned that racoons are NOCTURNAL! Ask your child what it means at the dinner table tonight...they are sure to wow you with their studious answers!

Welcome Back Everyone!

8/11/08

We had a very nice first day back to School! We read The Kissing Hand and talked about first day jitters although none of them seemed nervous! Our returning students went right into the work cycle while I worked with our new students on how to choose a lesson. Everyone was busy learning and painting! Snack time was definately the biggest hit with this hungry bunch. Thank you everyone for bringing your purple folders back to school today! They were decorated so well! Hope you all liked our art project! Thank you all for trying so hard to be on time for drop off and pick up. I know it can be a battle especially in the early morning but it is appreciated! Here are some pictures of our 1st day back to school...enjoy them!
